# Spreading Seeds (DD-403)

> In January 2022, Brazilian skydiver Luigi Cani jumped over a deforested area near Novo Aripuanã in Brazil's Amazonas state and released about 100 million seeds of 27 native tree species from a biodegradable box. The box was dropped from a plane, and Cani reached it in free fall and opened it at about 6,500 feet so the seeds would spread evenly. The project aimed to help regrow the forest. The footage shows the jump and the seed release.
