# Starlink (DD-529)

> Starlink is a satellite internet service from SpaceX that provides broadband to underserved and remote areas. It uses a large constellation of small satellites in low Earth orbit that communicate with user dishes and ground stations. Older satellite internet relied on geostationary satellites with high latency; Starlink's much lower orbits shorten transmission time. The footage, credited to Starlink, shows dishes and a Starship deploying satellites.

## Write-up

Starlink beams internet from thousands of low-orbit satellites. Low orbits cut the lag of older satellite service.

1. **Operator**: SpaceX.
2. **Orbit**: Low Earth orbit.
3. **Users**: Remote areas.
4. **Satellites**: Thousands.
5. **Benefit**: Lower latency.
