# Turning Red (DD-164)

> The red panda (Ailurus fulgens) is a small mammal of the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, including Nepal, Bhutan, India and Myanmar. It's the only living member of its own family, Ailuridae, and isn't closely related to the giant panda or other bears. It has reddish-brown fur, a ringed tail and, like the giant panda, an enlarged wrist bone that helps it grip bamboo. Red pandas are skilled climbers and spend much of their time in trees. They are listed as Endangered. One of their nicknames is 'firefox'. The footage shows red pandas climbing and eating, with the presenter.
