Video transcript: Immune to Cold: A Husky's Undercoat Traps Warm Air Next to Its Skin

Did you know, Huskies are remarkably resilient to cold due to their thick double coat, efficient metabolism, and unique physiological adaptations. Their outer coat or guard hairs repels water and snow while the dense undercoat provides insulation by trapping warm air close to the skin. Huskies also have fur-covered paws with special pads that resist freezing and provide traction on icy surfaces. Their circulatory system helps retain heat using a countercurrent exchange mechanism to warm blood returning from extremities. NOW YOU KNOW!
