Mount Bokty

Short answer: Bokty is an isolated, trapezoid-shaped remnant mountain (an inselberg) in Kazakhstan's Mangystau region, about 90 km from Zhanaozen. It's protected within the Mangystau State Historical and Cultural Reserve.

Local tourism sources say it stands 165 m high and that its name means 'pie' in Kazakh, after its cake-like layers. The bands are marine sediments laid down on an ancient sea floor and later carved by wind and water. The white layers are chalk, and the red and brown ones are colored by iron. Nearby, the Kyzylkup tract shows the same striping and is nicknamed 'Tiramisu'. The mountain looks like an upturned boat from one side and a striped pyramid from another, and it appears on Kazakhstan's 1,000-tenge banknote.
