Neuralink

Short answer: Neuralink, co-founded by Elon Musk in 2016, develops implantable brain-computer interfaces (BCIs): a small chip with ultra-thin electrode threads that records and can stimulate brain activity.

Its near-term aim is helping people with paralysis control devices; its stated long-term goal is human-AI symbiosis. The first human implant was in January 2024. The footage, credited to Neuralink, ABC News and Royalty Free Content, shows the implant and animations.
