Now You Know Rocket League

Short answer: In this talking-head Reel I talk about my own history with Rocket League: playing since undergrad, an estimated 6,000 hours, and why its learning curve hooked me. Every movement is manual, unlike sports games where players move on their own.

Rocket League is a vehicular soccer game developed and published by Psyonix, released in July 2015 for PlayStation 4 and Windows, and later on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Epic Games bought Psyonix in 2019, and the game went free-to-play in September 2020. Gameplay clips play under the talking-head section.

Video transcript: Now You Know Rocket League: One Car-Soccer Game Cost Me About 6,000 Hours

DID YOU KNOW? This is Rocket League Rocket League is this car soccer game that I was absolutely obsessed with for about four or five years. I started playing with my friends back in undergrad long time ago and I was hooked since then. You'll have a bunch of my clips playing at the bottom portion of this beneath this talking head section of the video. You can see the kind of stuff that I was getting up to. I racked up about 6,000 hours in this game maybe? That's estimates, my console account is long gone and my PC account I can't really access as... The appeal for me for this game really comes from the learning curve. So you start out and it's ridiculously hard you have to do everything in the game by yourself every movement, every input that you're seeing, I have to do on the controller or on the keyboard myself. Other games like FIFA you press a button to shoot, you press a button to pass, the characters will move around on the field by themselves you don't have to think about it too much it's not as involved. But for Rocket League... Man you gotta focus all the time it's crazy! But once you start getting really good at it start feeling yourself get better and better, gameplay gets better and better, it's so addicting and it's so much fun. That's why I had to stop playing it. Got really busy with school and with work and now I'll play maybe once every two weeks once a month. NOW YOU KNOW!
