Wet Response

Short answer: Fingers and toes wrinkle after soaking because the autonomic nervous system constricts blood vessels under the skin, reducing volume and pulling the skin into folds; it does not happen if the finger's nerves are cut. Some studies suggest the pattern improves grip on wet objects.

The footage, credited to photoowlsocial, shows a fingertip wrinkling in water.
